About Bryna Helle...
I have always had a passion for animals, especially horses. As a young girl I had quite the collection of horse figurines and had built my own cardboard pasture for them to play in. At the age of 11 I started taking regular riding lessons. Not long after, I fell in love with my first horse, Berry.
Berry and I started our journey working for Dry Ridge Outfitters, a horseback riding outfitter in Driggs, Idaho. My summers from 2002 until 2009 were filled with 5-7 hour days in the saddle, assisting on pack trips in the high country of the Teton Mountains. During the school year, I continued to take riding lessons in Minnesota until I finally brought Berry home in 2004.
At first I was happy to ride around in the pastures and dabble a little in the arena, but I didn’t feel like I had any direction. Around the same time in 2005, Pat and Linda Parelli came through Saint Paul on a tour stop. Berry and I dove into the program and haven’t looked back.
It’s been quite a journey since then, ups and downs and around and through. I found that as long as I stayed true to the ParelliTM principles and did the best I could that day, Berry and I would have fun together and make progress (every percentage point counts!).
The summer of 2010 Berry and I departed on our first journey to the Parelli Center in Colorado for the July Fast Track. I had the opportunity to learn from Parelli Instructors John Baar, Kristi Smith, Pete Rodda, and Ben Gerber. It was a phenomenal experience and allowed me to open myself up to my dream of becoming a Parelli Professional.
I then attended the January 2011 One Star Instructor Course at the Florida Campus, learning from Pat and Linda Parelli, Nita Jo Rush, Carol Coppinger and Ann Kiser. That July I returned to the Colorado Campus to complete the 12 week externship under Berin Macfarlane. At the center I was also able to take part in a 2-day Play to Win seminar with Jim Petterson, audit Linda’s Instructor Horsemanship course and Pat’s Wow with Cows course and the two week 2* Instructor course with Carol Coppinger and Tina Giordano.
It is wonderful to now be a part of the Parelli Team, working together towards the goal of changing the world for horses and humans!
I am also currently studying at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minnesota, majoring in Environmental Studies (Communications concentration) and minoring in Psychology.
